The 2021 Titans Junior Series got off to a fantastic start at Gold Coast Touch on Sunday, April 18. The sun was shining and the grounds were in perfect condition as 76 teams from 8 affiliates and over 2000 people converged at Owen Park for the annual 'Gold Coast Junior Cup'.
Crowds were treated to a fantastic standard of touch football as the 2021 junior representative season got underway. There were strong performances from many of the host affiliate Gold Coast teams claiming five titles and featuring in nine Grand Finals of the ten divisions on offer. Toowoomba Twisters featured prominently and many watchers on noticed the speed, strength and fitness of many of the westerners as they featured in four Grand Finals, taking out the 16's boys division.
Thank you to Chris, Anna, Kerry, Greg, Sascha, Henry and the whole team of volunteers at Gold Coast Touch Association for their wonderful efforts in hosting the event. Special thanks to Mitch Alexander who did a great job to fill in as tournament director and was very busy during the day and in the weeks leading up. Our referees were led by Anna Fuiava and did a great job, refereeing to a fine standard throughout the tournament.
The Titans Junior Series heads west next to Toowoomba for the Twisters Cup on Sunday May 2 before Redlands host the third leg of the series on May 16. Thank you to the players and their families for a great day of touch and we look forward to seeing you at the next Titans Junior Series event!
