The 2021 Titans Junior Series came to a conclusion at Palm Beach Touch on Sunday 14th June. The busy event was handled very well by staff, spectators and participants alike as all attendees enjoyed the sunny day and fantastic conditions for a fun day of touch.
A big congratulations to Gold Coast Touch who were victorious in the club championship for the SQBD Titans Junior Series events as per the 2021 Conditions of Entry, displaying great strength across all divisions in the three regional events. Palm Beach and Redlands proved close competition for each other for second place and both affiliates will look to continue to build on their solid results leading into the 2021 QLD Junior State Cup.
Traditionally strong affiliates in Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association and Gold Coast Touch featured heavily in finals matches at Palm Beach, while Toowoomba, Redlands and home teams from Palm Beach were also competitive across multiple divisions. Special mention to Gold Coast U10 Boys, Palm Beach U10 Girls, Gold Coast U18 Boys and BMTA U18 Girls who were successful in winning all three SQBD legs of the Titans Junior Series, well done!
As preparation for Junior State Cup goes into full gear many teams will have benefitted from the high standard of play seen at all legs of the Titans Junior Series. The Palm Beach edition saw some tense drop-offs, with some drop-offs going to 3 vs 3 for extended periods to really test the fitness of players and referees! The U14 Girls Grand Final between BMTA Red and Palm Beach was one of these see-saw battle with both teams having chances to win before BMTA secured a hard earned gold medal.
Beau Fermor from the Gold Coast Titans paid a visit and spent some time with young fans which was much appreciated! Thank you to Mitch Alexander, Dave Parker, Mat Gilbertson, Bec Herbert and the Palm Beach committee & support crew for all the work behind the scenes enabling the day to run seamlessly. Thank you to Lee Rossow and the team of referees who did a great job of keeping things under control on the field throughout the day.
Titans Junior Series 2021 in conjunction with Gold Coast Titans and South West QLD Swans has been a tremendous success, returning after a COVID hiatus in 2020. Thank you to all involved who took part and supported to allow so many juniors to grow and enjoy their touch football! Good luck to all those heading to Hervey Bay next month for QLD JSC.
