2025 National Youth Championships ... SQ Sharks claim the three-peat!!!

Coffs Harbour turned on the sunshine for the 2025 DoorDash National Youth Championships (NYC), which took place at C.ex Coffs International Stadium from the 1st to 4th of October 2025.

Our 18 Boys and 18 Girls went so close to making the Grand Final, being knocked out in Semi-Finals, each finishing as 3rd in the nation.  The Sports Performance Panels’ decision to play a number of 16 Girls up certainly assisted the 18 Girls team in competing with the best teams in the nation.  This division is generally where we struggle due to losing players to the QRSS Fire teams.

The 16 Boys A went down in the Semi-Final, finishing 4th.  The 16 Boys B missed out on Quarter-Finals by 2 points, finishing 9th.  In the 16 Girls Grand Final, the South Queensland Sharks A defeated the Brisbane Cobras, securing back-to-back titles with a 10-6 win.  The 16 Girls B had an enjoyable experience, finishing 11th.  Congratulations to Player of the Final, Lilli-Ava Ioane.

The 12 Boys A went down in the Semi-Final, finishing 4th while the 12 Boys B were beaten by the Sharks A team in the Quarter-Final, finishing 5th.  The 12s Girls Grand Final featured a rematch of last year’s contenders, with the Hunter Western Hornets avenging last year’s defeat to the South Queensland Sharks A, three tries to two.  The 12 Girls B narrowly missed out on the Quarter-Finals, finishing 9th.

The South Queensland Sharks were awarded the Champion Entity title for their outstanding overall performance at the event, excelling in the pool stages and securing two championships from three grand final appearances.

We are very proud of each and every individual involved in the campaign for your efforts and commitment to yourself and your team. Maintain your drive and passion for playing touch football and your desire to achieve an elite playing status. We hope to see you back in South Queensland Sharks colours in 2026 where we go for the four-peat.
